Master Bedroom Update: Before And After

June 10, 2014

Recently, Alex and the kids surprised me with the Society pillowcases I’ve been obsessing over.  Now that the bed is fully dressed again, it became clear why.  Their color and pattern perfectly balance the texture and tone of the brick wall behind our bed.  Mixing high and low ends of the spectrum, sheets from Ikea and a linen duvet from Coyuchi completed the new look.  I also replaced the chrome based bedside lamps with oversized brass and green ones I found at a consignment shop.   Take a look at the before and after bedding and the ‘new’ light fixtures and let me know what you think.  I’m still on the fence about the lamps and I badly need your input..

Love it. Been looking for some fine cotton sheets and think I just found them, thanks for introducing me to Society!

I like the scale of the new lights better. I didn’t comment on your kitchen reveal but it is absolutely beautiful. I like the way you combined the new kitchen design while respecting the era of the house.

Becky, thank you for your comment both on the lamps and the kitchen!

Love the funky funky wattage! But I have a penchant for that sort of thing. I say: Keep ‘em.

I love the fabrics and I like the scale and color of the lamps. They seem to fit the room and the table better than the old ones. How are you feeling about them now?

p.s. I like the brass base too. The sort of remind me of the ones I bought at Reside, cool, funky and textural.

Love the new look of the bedroom. Much softer, almost ethereal. The lamps provide a nice contrast to the bedding. Change the lampshades and, yes, definitely keep them.

Loved all the feedback on the bedside lamps. I have decided to keep them. They add a touch of nostalgia to the space and provide better light for nighttime reading. I’m going to take Natalia’s advice and replace the shades with smaller, whiter ones. Will post the finished look after I find them. Thank you!
