Design And Food: 3 Inspiring Books

IMG_3470 Within the last few weeks, I've acquired 3 amazing lifestyle books.  Each one has me riveted not only on the images, but also on the texts that describe approaches to design, philosophies and flavors. The first book The Chamber Of Curiosity, I picked up while visiting Heath Ceramics with a friend (btw, they have a great book selection).  The second was a surprise gift from Alex,  Commune Design's first book:  Commune: Designed In California.  The third, Yotam Ottolenghi's latest cookbook Plenty More, I purchased it at his book signing event in SF on Friday night.  All three of these bound beauties will offer inspiration for our home, clients' spaces and for the taste buds of family and friends no matter how many times I peruse through them.    IMG_3100

Out And About: Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles

On our way to LA last week (for a cruise to Mexico), Alex and the kids surprised me with an overnight stay at the Ace Hotel.  Knowing just how much I admire the work of the design firm Commune, the experience was a perfect early birthday gift for me.  Take a look at a few favorite images of our morning on the hotel's roof deck:

Many, many thanks to Alex, Max, Ben and Zoe for [quite possibly] the most style minded gift ever!

So Pinteresting: My Favorite Bedrooms

I'm obssessed with pinning.  If you're not familiar with technology's latest time consuming feature,  click on the pinterest button on the upper right to see what I've been up too, late into my night...   It's a place where one can create a virtual mood board  by "pinning" images from the computer to boards that one categorizes.  For example,  the photos in this blog post are taken from my board labeled "to sleep".  People can  share images as well as follow each others'.  With that said,  take a look at 7 of my favorite "pinned" bedrooms.

Fashion Meets Its Match: Etro

This post is inspired by a few of my most recent fashion and interior design obsessions.  The first being Etro, the Italian design house that's known for its color and pattern combinations.  Its spring and fall collections have my heart beating faster.  The other is Commune, an LA based design firm that represents,  in my mind,  the quintessential California style.  (Yes, California is still on my mind).  Take a peek at a few of my favorite interiors matched up with some of my favorite fashion looks.

My favorite interior is the Catalina street living room, I love how its retro feel was achieved with comfortable modern design.  My favorite outfit is the one paired with the Catalina street sitting room.  Roomy trousers topped with a patterned sheer blouse.

I almost forgot, here's one more fashion match.  The interior is America Dural's  and the fashion is by Dior.

Ok now,  which one is your favorite?
