So Pinteresting: 7 Inspiring Bathrooms

Only two years after installing our master bathroom and renovating the original one, we're trading them for three that are in desperate need of updating.  It should not be surprising then that my mind bounces back and forth to areas of the house we're moving to that I'm anxious to work on.  At the moment, the bathrooms are occupying all of my creative thought processes.   Using Pinterest,  I've been gathering images that contain elements we'd like to incorporate into one or all of the bathrooms.  Take a look at 7 very different, but equally attractive ones:

What elements in these bathrooms appeal to YOU the most?

So Pinteresting: 7 Colorful Rugs And The Rooms They Inhabit

Knowing that our move to California is close at hand, my mind is racing with design ideas.  I'm looking forward to updating our decor  with bolder colors, a mix of patterns and ethnic touches.  Area rugs can help define this look  by adding interest to the new space (wherever it may end up to be).  Hence, my colorful rugs' (pinning) obsession.  Take a look at 7 favorite rooms that utilize bright floor coverings effectively:

My most favorite is image 5.  I love the wood slab dining table, the textured lamp, the big windows and the beautiful patchwork rug. Which one is YOUR favorite?

How I Use Pinterest: Professionally And Personally

Pinterest has changed the way I manage both my personal and professional lives.

PROFESSIONALLY:

Creating pinboards for clients, like this one, allows me to quickly and efficiently source items that can be easily accessed by them with product descriptions, prices and manufacturers.  The boards can be adjusted by adding or deleting items as per client feedback.  I like the way the pinboards empower my clients to take an active part in the design process.  Depending on the scope of the project, either Cocoon Home Design can execute the pinboard vision with drawings, product purchases and placements, or the clients can refer back to the board as time and money allows and take on the project themselves.

In regards to blogging, pinning has been a great tool to collect and organize ideas for potential posts, like this board entitled 'branches'.  When the text describing the pins is written,  the images are transferred to the blog  and a post is created.    What I don't like, however, is that those following me on Pinterest  can begin seeing a post take shape before it hits the blog.  I sense that private boards will soon be available to all.  I would much prefer to have client and blogging boards kept separate from daily pinning eyes.

PERSONALLY

No more dog eared or torn magazine pages stacked up to the ceiling.  Don't get me wrong, I will always love flipping through the pages of a fashion or design magazine, but pinning has kept what I fancy organized and at the ready for purchase or inspiration. Rumor has it that my husband found a birthday gift for me on Pinterest.  (now that's personal).  Take a look at 2 examples of how I "personally" pin:

to wear:

A collection of seasonal clothing and accessories that I covet.  Having the images and sources in one place has actually helped me "create" a season's look, pare it down and purchase without guilt.

california style:

A collection of images that will inspire the design and decoration of our new home in California.

Many thanks to Pinterest for creating a method to the madness.

I love Pinning.

So Pinteresting: Branches In Interior Spaces

Using branches to decorate your home is suitable at any time of year, but springtime is by far the best season for it.  Dogwood, cherry, quince and forsythia branches can be found at your local florist,  in flower markets or in your own backyard.  Their dramatic silhouettes and delicate sprouting buds make them a visual delight indoors.  Be sure to cut and pound the bottoms of the stems before placing them in your containers, so that the woody stems absorb water better.   If you opt for dry branches, such as manzanita or driftwood, simply put them in a favorite vase or hang them on a wall or from the ceiling.   Take a look at some of my favorite 'branching' images:

My favorite image is the last one.  I love how dramatic the red maple tree looks in the entryway.

Which is your favorite?

For The Love Of Coffee

Lately, I've been mildly obsessed with coffee images and thought I would put some of my faves together.  My love for the bean is so strong that I'm considering giving it up for Lent.  My husband asks: " Why make it so difficult on yourself?".  I reply:  "That's exactly the point".   I can't remember sacrificing anything for Lent in a long while (maybe Skittles as a kid?).   A California friend of mine gives up chocolate every year and then throws a huge chocolate party after Easter.  These post-lent Willie Wonka parties are quite a lot of fun!      I'll keep you posted as to whether or not I become devout again this season...

What's your relationship with the coffee bean?  Could you give it up?!
