‘Til Monday

This week’s ‘Til Monday images are from one of my blog readers’ homes. A previous ‘Til Monday post about Graham and Brown wallpapers prompted her to search and find the perfect wall covering for her foyer. Take a look at how great it looks. I hope this post will inspire you to try something different in your space. Have a great weekend!
The paper was also hung in the back hallway giving depth to the entry.
Before and After-Living Room and Dining Room

While our master bedroom and bath renovation is slowly coming to an end (thank goodness!), I’ve been looking back at how much the house has changed since we bought it. Take a look at how it looked then and how it looks now….
The first floor of the house is really one large room separated into 3 areas with the dining area located in the middle. We used fedora FLOR tiles in both the living and kitchen sitting areas and same style IKEA sofas to keep the space balanced and uncluttered.
The floors were refinished and stained in a dark ebony. We used Benjamin Moore’s Aura paint in Thunder for the walls and Atrium white for the trim.
The same wallpaper was used in both the kitchen sitting area and the living room to keep the flow of the space consistent. The dining room table was from Cocoon, the store. We primed and painted it the same color used for the trim. We don’t have a designated art or play area for the kids, all their art projects take place on this table. The built-in cabinets hold books, magazines, games and art supplies. The kids can easily grab a box of crayons and paper and set up for some coloring. The beauty of this table is that can I get out the paint roller and pan and repaint it at anytime so it looks brand new again.
Art hanging in the window provides privacy while still allowing light to flow in.
Chandelier sconces from Brocade Home hang in both the front living room and back kitchen sitting area to give the space a whimsical, yet traditional touch. Mixing botanical prints and geometric patterns render the space modern but add a warmer edge to it. It’s a completely functional space for our way of living: very child friendly without sacrificing style and substance.
I Love This Chair

I recently saw this chair at Zimman’s, a fantastic fabric store that also has two floors of furniture upholstered in fabrics they stock. I love the fabric and the frame of this chair. The dark wood frame gives contrast to the the lighter tones in the fabric while the pattern in the fabric off sets the traditional frame. It would look great in a bedroom or living room. Let me know what you think?

Wallpaper Discovery

Whether you buy a new home or an older one, or even decide to renovate, there are always surprises. Some good, some bad and some plain fun, like this one. During a recent project , Cocoon Home Design found this amazingly cute wallpaper underneath one that we had had removed. We suspect this paper is about 75 years old. Very sweet vintage wallpaper for a charming children’s bedroom.
Heavy Metal-Gold

We’re so often focused on the contemporary look of stainless steel that we neglect copper, bronze, gold, and nickel. This is first in a series exploring how to incorporate other metals into your space with accessories, textiles and lighting. Take a look at some gold examples.
Above Williams and Sonoma’s Gold Leaf Mirror will reflect the late summer sun through out your home.
The gold in Marcel Wander’s Alice wallpaper makes the floral pattern delicate and glamorous.
Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams occasional table is the perfect size to fit just about anywhere.
Gold details throughout a hotel room in St. Petersburg make the guest feel royal and grand. Take me there….
This vintage cocktail shaker set from Esty is a great way to get a touch of gold into your bar.
Vico Magistretti Atollo Gold Lamp. I LOVE IT!!
The gold piano and the gold framed chairs make this room whimsical and classic.
Try working a bit of gold into your space.

Good Neighbors

I came home after being away for two weeks to these perfectly displayed mini Black- Eyed Susans and a refrigerator filled with essentials. All left by our good neighbors. Gestures like these make returning from vacations a lot easier. With that said, being back, settling the kids and dealing with the ongoing renovation, I haven’t had much time to blog. And I really want to. So please keep posted…. there will be more.

Color Obsession

My new color obsession is the blue of this Makita tool box I photographed hanging around the house ever since we began our renovation. I started looking for items in the color but found it a bit of a challenge because it’s a unique blue. It’s neither turquoise, aqua, nor baby blue. It’s Makita blue. A blue that can be cooled or warmed depending on how and where you use it. I hope to find a way to incorporate it into our new master bedroom or bath by mixing it with taupes and grays. A tribute to the tool box used to create the new space. Take a look at what I found.
I was reminded of Andrew Morgan’s amazing talent with textiles while vacationing at the Ritz. All of the beds are draped with his throws. Years ago when Cocoon (the store) opened in Boston we hosted a trunk show for him. Back then, he was peddling his wares out of a duffle bag. Congratulations on his success, he’s so deserving! His Peacock throw displays a great balance of color and design. I particularly love the gray background.
Blu Dot’s square pillow.
Aimee Wilder’s Loops wallpaper available at Burke Decor.
When working with an accent color it’s good to use it in other forms such as leather. Room and Board’s leather sofa in teal.
Hope you all had a great weekend!!
