Zoe's Bedroom Update

I recently added a few touches to Zoe's room to introduce a touch of glam and a bit of rustic flair.  Now, a framed needlepoint horse found  at Farmyard Darlings hangs perfectly above her bed and bubbled glass pulls update her closet doors.  Take a look:

Moving Mode: Creating New Holiday Traditions

Last weekend we headed to the Santa Cruz mountains to cut down our Christmas tree and thus begin a new holiday tradition in our West Coast life.   I'm happy to say we accomplished both.

Here's to creating new traditions and treasuring old ones.

I would love to see your holiday decorations.  Send images to debra@cocoonhome.com and I'll share them on my blog.  Enjoy this very special season!

Tomorrow I'll reveal the winners of our reader giveaway!

Moving Mode: Holiday Inspirations For Our New Home

I've started  gathering Christmas ornaments from the past and acquiring new ones that will fit in nicely with our mid-century home's decor.  A touch of pink, or rather, dusty rose,  a little blue and some glitter will give the evergreen garlands and the tree just the right touch of vintage & glamour.   Take a look:

We're heading to the Santa Cruz mountains this Saturday to cut down our tree.   I'm looking forward to a family weekend of decorating and creating new holiday traditions.

Follow The Move: Zoe's Bedroom Reveal

In the  (sort of) DIY Navajo bedspread post, I promised to show you the rest of Zoe's bedroom.  Having shared a room with her twin brothers for almost 4 years, Zoe is finally in her very own space and loving every inch of it.  I worried that she would be reluctant to sleep alone but she took to her own bedroom with unapologetic gusto.  Repurposing her old bed and dresser, adding a vintage lamp find from the Alameda Flea market, and throwing in a few free spirited details (such as a crayon-friendly wall), Zoe's room now reflects her warm, creative and loving personality.  Take a look:

An Interview with MyMove.Com

Jenai Humphreys, a writer for mymove. com recently contacted me after reading about our move on Cocoon Home's blog and asked if I would share our experience with its readers.  Our conversation was focused on what it's like to move with kids and of course, a few ideas about decorating a new home.

During my conversation with the Boston based writer (how ironic), it dawned on me just how life changing a cross-country move is and how therapeutic writing about it has proved to be.

Take a look at the interview here and let me know what you think.
