Mid-Century Design: A Home Tour And Our Latest Giveaway Winner

I think it appropriate to announce the winner of the mid-century design ceramic set during a mid-century house tour.  Before I reveal who the lucky blog reader is, let's take a look at a home that my husband and I toured while house hunting in California.  It's impeccably designed and decorated.  Every detail, from the sideboard hardware to the poolside swings, is true to the period. We were in awe at how well appointed it was.  However, since we love a challenge and creating spaces of our very own, this house was not for us.  Enjoy the tour, we certainly did!

The pool ALMOST got us...

Now the moment you've been waiting for:

Judy, you're our lucky winner!  Congratulations!!  Please email your coordinates to me at~   debra@cocoonhome.com   ~so I can send you the Kenji Fujita oil and vinegar set  courtesy of Reside.

A huge thank you to all who participated.  Keep posted for future reader giveaways.

The Way We Live: A Design Savvy Client

The home I'm about to share with you belongs to a client that became a good friend.  This project exemplifies well the way Cocoon Home Design works with a client.    Tackling a brand new construction, the design savvy client needed help creating a foundation for her overall aesthetic.  With paint color choices, key furniture pieces and layouts, CHD was able to help this client attain her ultimate vision.  With an occasional call to suggest an accessory, a painting, or a rug, this client's home evolved and matured without losing track of her preferred sense of style.  Take a look at this elegantly toned, well organized and family friendly home.

Take a look at the Room Inspiration that inspired this client to purchase the vases.

A Rocking Guest Suite

Our visit to the Berkshires continues to provide me with great blogging material.  Among the many rooms of the main contemporary home we stayed in, this guest suite stood out.  Outfitted for the musically inclined, our little Zoe found it to be her favorite place.  Take a look at how furniture styles and building materials were mixed to create a space full of texture, color and interest.

Looking forward to the family's next adventure!

A Sneak Peek: Roof Deck Installation and Decoration

Our long awaited roof deck has been installed.  After repairing the rubber roof from winter's wear, we had a pallet deck built.  This decking system is easily removed if needed (and I hope it does not).  The twelve 4x4 frames were individually tied and hoisted up a ladder, placed and leveled.  Take a look at the process and the beginning stages of decorating and planting.

I used  Pinterest to collect product ideas and inspirational photos for the deck.  To take a closer look at the "roof deck" pin board click here.

We're still waiting for a sun sail, lounge cushions and one more planter.  When they're received, placed and planted I'll give the full roof deck tour.  Can hardly wait!

A Peek Into A Berkshires' Farmhouse

With its many rooms, small yet very quaint, and wide plank floorboards that creak with every step, this house is as cozy as it is historic.  It's a complete departure from the contemporary home that shares the property surrounding it.  The only thing these two homes have in common is an amazing collection of rugs.  Take a peek into a lovely Berkshires' farmhouse.

So, if you had to choose, where would YOU stay?  In the contemporary home or the farmhouse?
